After 16 wonderful years at The Hearing Care Centre, Debbie made the difficult decision to retire at the end of July 2025. Here’s a little from Debbie as she steps into the wonderful world of retirement!

My career in audiology began with a private company in Ipswich before I moved across to Essex and joined The Hearing Care Centre in Colchester.  Over the years, I have had the privilege of helping so many people improve their hearing and quality of life.  One of the most rewarding parts of my role has been getting to know my patients, hearing about their lives, holidays and experiences, and seeing the positive difference better hearing can make.

While I won’t miss the early morning commute from Suffolk to Essex, and the challenge of travelling on the A12 and A14, I will miss the friendships I have made with both patients and colleagues.

During my time here, I have seen many changes, including staff coming and going, improvements to our facilities, and the opening of our wonderful Langham Barns Clinic.  It has been a pleasure to be part of the practice’s growth and development over the years.

As I begin this next chapter, I am looking forward to enjoying retirement after more than 50 years of work since leaving school at 16.  I recently joined a local gym and am enjoying swimming and fitness classes.  My husband and I are also planning to take up golf, do some travelling, and spend more time with family and friends.  I hope to continue my sewing and knitting projects and enjoy plenty of good books along the way.

I am sure retirement will keep me busy, and I may well find myself wondering how I ever found time to work!

Thank you to everyone I have met during my time at The Hearing Care Centre, I will miss you all and wish you good health, happiness and all the best for the future. Thank you also for all of your wonderful cards and gifts, I truly appreciated them all.

With best wishes

Debbie
