Our September craft event at the beautiful Duchy Barn in Dedham was an afternoon to remember! This time, we swapped paintbrushes for something a little more sparkly, as our lovely clients joined us to discover the art of creating their very own pieces of sparkly glass artwork.
We knew this event would be popular, but it exceeded all our expectations. With every place booked and a waiting list, there was a real buzz of excitement as everyone arrived, ready to try something new.
Our talented teacher, Suzy from Sparkly Glass, was absolutely brilliant. Patient, encouraging and a wonderful communicator, she made everyone feel at ease as she introduced us to the art of working with glass. There were a few anxious faces at first as everyone listened carefully to Suzy’s instructions, wondering how on earth they were going to turn their ideas into beautiful pieces of artwork!
But those nerves soon disappeared. As everyone got started, the excitement grew, ideas began to flow, and the barn filled with chatter, concentration and plenty of smiles. It was wonderful to watch everyone discover what they could achieve, and the results were simply amazing. Every piece was different, reflecting each person’s own imagination and creativity.
I have to admit, I was feeling rather jealous watching everyone get stuck in, as I would have loved to join them! Luckily, I had Sharon, our Practice Manager from the Langham and Colchester clinics, alongside me. We made sure the tea, coffee and biscuits were ready for everyone to enjoy during the break, an important part of any successful afternoon!
The time absolutely flew by, and before we knew it, the afternoon was drawing to a close. Everyone had enjoyed themselves so much that nobody seemed quite ready for it to end!
But the excitement didn’t stop there. Suzy kindly took everyone’s creations away to glaze them, and they have now been returned in beautiful boxes, with each finished piece carefully presented. We are now delivering these precious creations back to our clients, who can hardly wait to see their finished masterpieces.
Looking at the photographs, you can see just how much creativity, colour and individuality went into every single piece. What a wonderful reminder of an afternoon spent trying something new, learning a new skill and enjoying the company of friends.
