What are invisible hearing aids and how do they work?

Unlike traditional hearing aids, invisible devices sit inside the ear canal. This means that no part of the device is visible on the outside of the ear.

To achieve a comfortable and secure fit, they are often custom-made to match your ear shape and programmed to suit your hearing requirements.

Being inside the ear canal means that invisible hearing aids achieve a more natural sound quality than over the ear devices. This is due to the device being deep within the ear canal. It allows the sound to react with your outer ear in a similar way to natural hearing.

As a result, many of our clients report that they often forget they’re wearing invisible hearing aids due to the natural sound quality and their lightweight and miniature design.

What are the benefits of invisible hearing aids?

There are many reasons that you might like to try invisible hearing aids. Here’s a list of a few which may help you decide whether they’re right for you:

Invisible

Of course, the biggest benefit of invisible hearing aids is their discreet design! If you’re concerned that those around you will notice your hearing aids, or worried about how they might look, invisible devices are a great solution.

As well as this, their invisible nature means that they won’t be caught on hats, glasses, scarves or other accessories that you might wear around your face. On the whole, this adds to a more pleasant experience and means you can forget about getting your face mask tangling with your hearing aids!

Natural sound quality

Hearing technology has come on leaps and bounds in recent years meaning that so many of our hearing devices offer excellent sound quality in almost all situations. Invisible devices are unique due to their positioning deeper within the ear canal meaning that they can offer the most natural of sounds!

Also, the absence of wires and tubes, and their light material, means that you’re likely to forget you’re wearing one, achieving a more natural feel to your improved hearing.

Comfortable

Our invisible hearing devices are custom-made, ensuring a perfect fit inside your ear for amazing comfort. You can also say goodbye to any discomfort you may feel from the tubes and wires that come with traditional hearing aids.

Life can be more comfortable and convenient too! By being inside the ear, invisible hearing aids make answering the phone, wearing over the ear headphones and many other tasks easier than with traditional devices.

Are invisible hearing aids right for you?

Although their benefits are great, invisible hearing aids aren’t for everyone. Unfortunately, due to their miniature size, it’s likely that they may not be effective enough for those with severe hearing loss. They’re best suited for those with mild to moderate hearing loss.

Although for most, they are extremely comfortable to wear, we must note this may not be the case for everyone. Unfortunately, if your ear canal is short, or differently-shaped, then they’re unlikely to be feel comfortable.

You should also note that their smaller size means you’ll need to change the batteries more often which some of our clients find fiddly. Your audiologist will be able to tell you more about this process, if you’re concerned.

When choosing your first, or next, pair of hearing aids, there’s a lot to consider. If your hearing loss is mild to moderate, invisible hearing aids can be an outstanding solution for you.
