At The Hearing Care Centre we understand how life changing hearing aids can be. They help you reconnect with the world around you – conversations with loved ones, everyday sounds, and the experiences that make life vibrant.
Because hearing aids are both vital and valuable, it’s essential to take steps to protect your investment. One of the most important ways to do this is by insuring your hearing aids.
Why You Should Insure Your Hearing Aids
Hearing aids are small, sophisticated devices that are worn daily. As a result, they are vulnerable to:
- Accidental Loss (common in public places or while changing clothes)
- Theft
- Damage from dropping, water damage and pets
- Malfunction beyond the manufacturer’s warranty
Whilst some standard home or contents insurance policies do cover hearing aids some only offer limited protection. That’s why you should check the cover they provide and if not adequate look at arranging specialist insurance.
What Does Hearing Aid Insurance Cover
While policies vary, most hearing aid insurance plans cover
- Loss or theft (whether at home, out and about, or even abroad)
- Accidental Damage (including from pets or falls)
- Malfunction outside of the manufacturer’s warranty
- Repair or full replacement costs, often this will have a small excess
Some policies may also offer loan devices while yours are being repaired. Always check with us first as we may be able to assist with this.
How to Get Your Hearing Aids Insured
There are a few options to consider:
Add to Your Home Insurance | Specialist Hearing Aid Insurance |
If choosing this option be sure to: 1. Confirm they are covered outside the home 2. Check the total amount they will insure them for 3. Understand the excess and exclusions | Several companies offer dedicated hearing aid insurance. These plans typically provide: a. More comprehensive cover b. Lower excess c. Faster replacement or repair |
What You will Need to Insure Your Devices
- A copy of your hearing aid receipt or invoice
- The model and serial number of each device
- The replacement cost (we can provide this)
- Some require a recent hearing test or fitting documentation

We strongly recommend insuring your hearing aids as soon as you receive them. The peace of mind it brings is worth every penny and in the event of a mishap, you’ll be very glad you did.
